Room No 9 is a visual novel about two best friends who were planning a trip to Okinawa, but after leaving a bar, they don’t remember anything else and wake up in a hotel room.
They can’t leave this room because they are part of an experiment. For each task they manage to complete, they earn 10 points, and once they reach 100 points, they will be allowed to leave.
The problem is that the experiment makes it very clear that they won’t be able to escape, and causing the death of their companion will not make the experiment stop.
Final Thoughts – Analyzing the Work as a Whole
Graphics
The game’s artwork is quite beautiful, and the sex scenes are uncensored ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) hehe
I really liked the poses chosen to illustrate the task scenes, they look dynamic and natural.
And, surprisingly enough, the characters even have armpit hair! HAHAHAHAHA
There isn’t much variety in the backgrounds, but the few that are present maintain the same level of quality as the character art.
The UI in this game is extremely complete! There are countless save slots (you can save at any time!), and after completing an ending for the first time, it’s possible to view the decision tree.
There are several settings to adjust sound effects and music, in addition to an option to save the dialogue audio tracks you like the most.
It’s also possible to skip dialogue you’ve already read, which makes things much easier for players who want to focus on alternative routes.
Soundtrack and Sound Effects
Great soundtrack! Moments of tension and relaxation are very well represented through the music.
The protagonists’ voice acting is very good — including the moans during sex — but it’s available only in Japanese.
Gameplay
The first thing that came to mind when I saw this game was something very Saw-like! Lots of gore and psychological horror situations.
Unfortunately, that’s not exactly the vibe of this visual novel.
I was expecting a more complex decision tree, but it’s veeery simple. The game has much more text than choices. I admit this disappointed me quite a bit. I thought I’d be able to choose the tasks, that it would be a story full of atrocities and things like that. 🙁
Completing a route is quite fast, taking around five hours.
All sex scenes are consensual. They can cause some discomfort for the reader, though, since the game plays with the concept of sexual humiliation. In fact, that’s the core idea of the game: the dilemma between sexually humiliating your friend or being physically tortured by him.
There are a few moments where the characters seem to flirt and enjoy interacting sexually. However, all of these feelings are expressed with guilt, something like “he’s my best friend, I can’t do this to him.”
Oh yeah, I really thought Daichi was going to be the uke… I was wrong, hehe
There is one scatological moment, but nothing extreme or bizarre — just a gross moment, really.
I recommend this game to players who are into more fetish-oriented content. If your vibe is gore and psychological horror, I wouldn’t buy it.
On the other hand, I admit that my curiosity to see how it all ended really got to me! So if you enjoy suspense, you might end up liking it.
Replayability and Game Retention
After completing one route, you’ll have five more to explore.
In addition to presenting different storylines, they also unlock new CGs.
