A killer enters a nightclub, starts killing people, and leaves clues.
A detective takes on the case and begins investigating the leads to discover who is behind it all.
She Sees Red is a Russian FMV (full-motion video) game that is very well produced and short in duration (approximately 35 minutes).
Final Thoughts – Analyzing the Game as a Whole
Graphics and UI
I was quite surprised by the quality of the filming and direction.
There are plenty of action scenes and a bit of gore.
The atmosphere was very good too, with scenery that follows the same standard of quality as the filming and production.
The game is an FMV, so there isn’t much to say about the UI, except for the options menu and the action choices, which are easy to understand.
During choices, there’s a timer, forcing the player to make a quick decision.
Soundtrack and Sound Effects
I liked the soundtrack, it works well with the atmosphere of the action and suspense scenes.
The audio equalization was also well done.
The original audio is in Russian (which gave the storyline a certain charm, in my opinion), but the game also features English dubbing.
Gameplay
I don’t have much to say about gameplay, as it’s an interactive film after all.
The game itself is quite short and doesn’t have complex decision trees.
In one sitting, you can easily complete the game without worrying about making any wrong choices.
The story is quite interesting, and each choice results in a completely different route from the others.
I’m not saying there are plot twists, but there are some unexpected events.
The game has a save option, allowing you to pause at a certain point and come back later when you’re ready.
Additionally, it also has a gallery feature with behind-the-scenes images (which is really cool!)
Replayability and Game Retention
After completing the game for the first time, you can skip scenes you’ve already seen.
This helps a lot when completing other routes, without having to watch everything again (there are 62 scenes in total).
The length of the game also helps keep the excitement going to see the other endings.
On the other hand, it makes the game somewhat disposable, not giving enough time to create a connection with the storyline that would make it a truly memorable experience.
