Final Considerations – Analyzing the Work as a Whole
Graphics
I absolutely loved the art style used!
I loved the predominance of gray and lilac — it gave the game a very unique aesthetic. The coloring, with a texture that looks like crayon, also gave everything a very special touch.
The only thing I felt was somewhat lacking was the character art in the areas where you have to move around. I think they should have maintained the same style as the environments and CGs instead of switching to pixel art.
The UI follows the typical style of games made in RPG Maker.
They’re easy to understand, but the usability isn’t very practical because, in my opinion, there are too many options (besides the inventory, there’s a section for collectible cards and multiple save slots). Navigating through all these options ends up being a bit tedious, especially since the game doesn’t even have that much interactivity.
Soundtrack and Sound Effects
The sound effects and music are nothing special at all. They match the mysterious atmosphere of the game, but I felt that the visual aspect carried much more weight in that regard.
Gameplay
It wasn’t clear to me what metaphors the game is trying to convey or what kind of reflection it aims to provoke.
Everything is very abstract. The only thing I was able to grasp is that it involves religion and existential questioning. In some parts, it seems like the game is talking about the process of reincarnation. In others, it feels more like it’s portraying what happens in a post-death scenario.
I honestly don’t know what to say about this game, I found its story confusing.
Since it’s a surrealist game, I’m not sure whether this lack of clarity is just my impression or if everyone who plays it also feels lost.
Saying it’s not worth playing would be unfair, because I understand that the theme it addresses isn’t for everyone, but here’s a warning: if you’re not into games with a more subjective approach, stay far away from this one.
It’s a short game with interesting puzzles.
Replayability and Retention
The game has two endings, and it’s possible to complete both in about two hours.
For me, it was a very fleeting experience, but I might revisit it in the future to possibly form a less negative opinion.
