Final Thoughts – Analyzing the Game as a Whole
Graphics and UI
The graphics are 3D, and at first, I was a bit confused because I thought it would be possible to zoom in on the scenery.
The models are good, but I found some small items and the clickable areas a bit imprecise.
The clickable objects are animated, which is great because it prevents the player from wasting time clicking on everything! hahaha
I was bothered by the fact that there are many phrases in the protagonist’s monologue without punctuation, and the “Options” menu label has a typo in Portuguese. Yes, I’m picky about those orthographic details. 😉
I also found the cursor size to be a bit small.
Other than that, I think it’s fine. The menus are easy to understand, and the fonts match the game’s aesthetics and atmosphere very well.
Soundtrack and Sound Effects
The music is great, but I’ll warn you that the default track gets a bit annoying after a few minutes because it’s very repetitive. But don’t worry, you can change it right from the first scene.
Chicken Holmes doesn’t have voice acting when he speaks, but I personally didn’t find that it negatively impacted the game.
Gameplay
I have to confess that I was a bit disappointed with the overall experience.
It follows a typical point and click dynamic, you click on the scenery to investigate. You can collect items, but you don’t get to choose where to use them (they’re used automatically) and that breaks the challenge.
The texts are well-written and have a comedic tone. It’s a light humor that I enjoyed. But looking at it as an investigation game, it’s really weak. :]
The game has some minor bugs (for example, when clicking on an empty item slot, the dialogue area appears with no text, and items overlapping in the slot). These don’t ruin the experience, but they show that the game wasn’t well polished. That’s unfortunate because it gives the impression that the game is incomplete or was rushed.
Replayability and Game Retention
Don’t expect a game that will keep you invested. It’s extremely short, so short that it doesn’t even have a save feature.
Play it with a casual mindset and don’t expect to get hooked like you would in a real detective case.
