A super interesting plot, where you control an ex-detective who was accused of stealing diamonds from a senator (who was found dead).
To make things easier, this ex-detective is placed in the position of a lowly police officer, tasked with maintaining order in the neighborhood, investigating irregular vehicles, and reporting small thefts.
But we all know that urban life is much more chaotic, right?
Alongside your daily tasks, you also deal with mobsters, gangs, and suspicious individuals, gaining or losing points from them every day. All this mixed in with the story of who really killed and stole the senator’s diamonds.
Final Thoughts – Analyzing the game as a whole
Graphics and UI
Minimalist pixel art, but at the same time very detailed. Shadows and colors are very well done and chosen. The animation is also top-notch! <3
The HUD itself is clear, but for my first time playing, it wasn’t so obvious. Not that it’s the interface’s fault, I think it was more a matter of teaching the player how to use the buttons/actions in the game. A small feedback when clicking on something that can’t be used would have improved my experience in this case specifically.
Soundtrack and Sound Effects
I found the soundtrack weak. There are moments where one music or another plays, but during gameplay it’s almost just noise.
Another negative point is that the sound is very low, even with the volume set to maximum through the menu options. I didn’t like it! 🙁
Gameplay
The 80s vibes was really cool, even the great jokes they have in movies from that era.
At first, the game is quite confusing, you always have to make difficult decisions about what to do, but at the same time it’s a very fun and extremely relaxed game (strong language and yelling, be prepared).
Some actions didn’t seem clear to me, like running and arresting a thief. There could be a better tutorial or an option for help in the menu about this.
Apart from that, the gameplay is fluid, and the interaction with characters and objects is very good.
I played the game in Portuguese and had no issues with the localization.
I’m not sure how to classify the game’s genre, since it’s too dynamic to be a point-and-click game, but the focus on storytelling and decision-making is something very strong. Maybe classifying it as a police simulator would be the most coherent option.
Replayability and Game Retention
In addition to being able to start from scratch, if you did something you didn’t like you can restart that specific day.
The possibilities of your reputation with the police, mafia, and gangs are quite variable, which opens up a range of action options.
The sad part is that it only has one save slot for everything. 🙁
