Final Thoughts – Analyzing the Game as a Whole
Graphics and UI
The pixel art is adorable and well-detailed, except for the background scenery.
I didn’t quite understand why this change happens, but it’s noticeable that the background has far fewer colors and details. I personally found the gray clouds unappealing, as they use flat colors instead of subtle shading. This creates a certain disparity in the game’s overall art style.
The menu fonts follow the pixel art aesthetic, but they feel somewhat stretched rather than stylized. I say this because each pixel in the font appears inconsistent, not following a clear pattern.
It’s possible to configure the game’s controls, but there’s a bug where the selected key isn’t updated on the UI. For example, if I change the jump button to the “A” key, the input works correctly, but the menu continues to display the “Z” key.
I remained stuck for a while until I realized this was a bug, as I initially thought key customization wasn’t possible, which wouldn’t make much sense, since the option is clearly offered.
The game also features a language selection screen, but due to another bug, this screen always appears when you exit the game and return to the main menu. This behavior is quite annoying and uncomfortable. While these bugs don’t interfere directly with gameplay, they negatively impacted my experience. Before starting any game, I always check the options to understand the controls, and I ended up stuck in a repetitive loop of configuring buttons, playing, exiting, and seeing the language selection screen again — despite continuing to play because of the positive Steam reviews.
Soundtrack and Sound Effects
The game features nice tunes and sound effects, but after a while, the music becomes repetitive and somewhat annoying. A few additional music tracks would easily solve this issue.
Gameplay
A simple, casual, and addictive game.
I must confess that at first I played using the keyboard, but I later realized that the game is much simpler with a mouse. You only need to focus on jumping and shooting.
The game is quite challenging. Not only do you need to be careful with the platforms you land on, but you also have to deal with enemies constantly appearing.
There are two gameplay modes: a beginner mode, where you can take three hits before dying, and a hardcore mode, where any damage results in an immediate game over.
In addition to accumulating score, you can collect coins and use them at the end of a run to unlock new alpacas. To further enhance competitiveness, the game also includes an online ranking system.
Replayability and Game Retention
The game is difficult, but highly addictive. You’ll want to keep playing to see how far you can get.
An excellent choice for killing time on boring days.
