Technical Information
Developer: Somepx

Release Date: August 23, 2019
Mekabolt is a game with a simple proposal and gameplay, which at first glance may seem uninteresting, but turns out to be a great casual game.
Mixing platformer gameplay with puzzle-solving, your goal is to reach the battery (which is hidden somewhere in the level). To do this, you will use an arm called Mekabolt, which allows you to shoot and grab objects and robots that appear.
Final Thoughts – Analyzing the Game as a Whole
Graphics and UI
The game’s artwork is entirely made of pixel art, and the enemies have a simple but nice design.
The scenarios follow the same visual style without giving the impression of being poorly made. Each world has its own set of colors, showing that care was taken in designing each part of the game.
The UI and HUD are easy to understand and intuitive. The only problem is that the main options screen does not have a “Quit” button. You’ll have to close the game through your system’s task manager.
Soundtrack and Sound Effects
The sound effects and music are nice and charming, fitting well with the game’s purpose and aesthetic.
Gameplay
Simplicity is the word that defines this game: fluid and intuitive gameplay.
At first, I found the game’s physics to feel very heavy. After getting used to it, however, it became quite comfortable. Besides the directional controls, there are buttons for shooting and jumping.
I personally found the puzzles to be pretty easy. There are 96 levels in total, but they are all very short. This is the game’s main flaw… I wanted more levels! hahaha
I finished it in approximately 65 minutes, but for someone who isn’t familiar with puzzle or platformer games, the playtime may be longer.
Despite the game not having a save system, you can return to previously completed levels.
Replayability and Game Retention
I didn’t see much reason to replay the game after finishing it, since it doesn’t offer anything beyond the main levels. For me, it’s only worth returning after a long time has passed, once the puzzles have been forgotten.
