Final Thoughts – Analyzing the Game as a Whole

Graphics and UI

The artwork is very detailed! There are small details in the animations that make a difference, such as the protagonist’s movement when you stand still and the smoke trail when he walks.
It’s very clear that Super Mario World influenced the game’s aesthetic, but the developer knew how to incorporate this inspiration in a way that doesn’t feel like reused assets.

The game uses a scanline effect throughout, giving it a retro vibe.

The HUD is easy to understand and matches the game’s visual identity. Unfortunately, the developer didn’t show the same care when choosing the font for menus and dialogue. A sans-serif font was selected, which has absolutely nothing to do with pixel art. This creates a jarring break in the game’s aesthetic, and I didn’t like it.
Another aesthetic issue is the font size in conversations, which is unnecessarily large.

The game has some dialogue, and even though the sentences are simple, there are grammatical errors in English. 🙁

Soundtrack and Sound Effects

The songs are nice and not annoying.
I really liked the sound effects, they add more consistency to the game.

The only thing I didn’t like was the volume balance of the menu sound effect, which is too loud compared to the other sounds and music in the game.

Gameplay

The protagonist’s physics feel a bit heavy, but he’s easy to control, and all the hitboxes are well calibrated.
The game is extremely simple in its proposal: all you have to do is solve the puzzle to get the key and use it on the lock to advance to the next stage.
The stages are divided into four worlds, each with a boss, and you can return to previously completed stages.
The game is very easy! I only had a bit of trouble with the last boss.

Despite its simplicity, everything is well executed, which brings a good level of quality to the game.

During gameplay, I encountered a single bug: I was able to advance to the third world without completing all the stages of the second one (and without defeating its boss). After that, I couldn’t return to replay the previous stages!
It was a completely accidental bug — I was just exploring the game! hahaha

Replayability and Game Retention

The game is very short, I would have been much happier if there were more worlds. Despite being easy, it’s fun and great for killing time. I finished it in approximately one hour.

In addition to the story mode, there is a boss rush mode. Beyond that, it’s only worth coming back to unlock any missing achievements.
