Death Fungeon is an incredibly interesting game that blends stealth with platforming.
Its objective is to escape from a prison, but it’s not just about having control skills! Most of the stages need to be well analyzed because they hide good ambushes.
Final Thoughts – Analyzing the Game as a Whole
Graphics and UI
Both the art and animations were very well done. Despite the simple style, the attention to detail in each level’s scenery is notable.
The game does not have a HUD. The UI is easy to understand and follows the same style as the art.
Soundtrack and Sound Effects
The soundtrack isn’t very well worked out, but it doesn’t disappoint. It’s well done, matches the game’s proposal, just nothing extraordinary.
Gameplay
Fluid, fast, and challenging gameplay. The game perfectly synthesized the concept “less is more” in all aspects.
The gameplay is extremely simple, with only two commands: jump and hide. At first, I took a little while to get used to the character’s physics because he’s very fast and does some light slides.
The level design is amazing, the difficulty increases progressively to follow the curve of adaptation and learning for the player.
The stages are not repetitive and nor similar to each other; each stage (which is actually a part of the dungeon) has its own challenge and strategy.
Replayability and Game Retention
With the same speed and ease that you can die, you start the level again. Excellent strategy to restart the game without having any rage crisis.
Perfect for both casual and hardcore gaming sessions.
