Release Date: February 15, 2015

Faustão Dating Sim is a dating simulator featuring the TV presenter Faustão. It’s clearly a humorous game based on a famous figure in Brazilian television culture.

The story takes place in 2015, when Faustão was the protagonist of an “anime” that had been running for over 20 years. However, his show was experiencing a decline in audience ratings. This eventually led him into a deep depression, to the point where he no longer felt like doing anything. Until one day, he meets someone who can completely change his life… you!

Sadly, this game is only available in Brazilian Portuguese.

Final Considerations – Analyzing the Work as a Whole

Graphics and UI

Faustão’s sprites were cut from photos, and the backgrounds seem to be generic free assets.
Some sprites look pretty bad, but who cares? It’s a freaking Faustão dating sim!

The UI follows the standard visual novel format, with a dialogue box and buttons that allow you to choose your responses.
There are several save slots, but I found that unnecessary since the game is very short.

Soundtrack and Sound Effects

The music and sound effects are the highlight of the game! Hahaha.
Get ready to hear not only the classic Rap do Ovo (“Egg Rap”… yes, this was actually released on his own album in the 90s. That era was pure nonsense! Hahaha), but also Green Memories from Chrono Trigger (wtf!!!).

The characters speak at specific moments, which adds greater immersion to the gameplay.
In some parts, the background music volume increased on its own. It’s a minor bug, but I couldn’t help noticing it.

Gameplay

The game is filled with catchphrases and classic moments from Brazilian TV. While you’re trying to get to know Faustão better, other famous Brazilian presenters (Gilberto Barros and Celso Portiolli) appear to try to win you over. Will true love prevail? Hahaha.

As I mentioned earlier, the game is quite short. I think they could have added more content. During the 90s, many iconic things happened on those TV shows, they definitely could have referenced more of them.
I thought there would be some reference to the infamous “sushi eroticism” moment (seriously, just search for “sushi erótico no Faustão”), but unfortunately, there wasn’t. 🙁

Since the game takes place in 2015, there’s also no reference to Faustão’s case with Selena Gomez (a famous fanfic that went viral in 2018).

Replayability and Player Retention

Honestly? You can complete all the routes in half an hour.
It’s a joke game, you’re not supposed to take it seriously. The replay value mostly comes from showing it to friends or replaying it for a few laughs when you’re bored.
