Lost Kittens: Maze Garden is a very simple game. Your goal is to find kittens scattered throughout the levels. However, you must search for them through mazes, taking great care not to fall into the water.
A relaxing game that will certainly test your patience.
Final Considerations – Analyzing the Game as a Whole
Graphics and UI
The art is very cute, and the animations are simple but well done.
I liked how they kept the scenery detailed.
And if you find the visuals unappealing, there’s an option to enable Halloween mode. This mode gives the game a Halloween look (as the name suggests).
I personally didn’t find the interface difficult to understand.
The only thing I would change is the font of the character selection screen labels. Since everything is in pixel art, I think the font could follow this aesthetic.
Soundtrack and Sound Effects
There isn’t much variety in the music, but what’s there is enough.
It has a calming and relaxing vibe, bringing a lot of serenity to the game.
The sound effects are also okay, I didn’t find any strange or repetitive ones.
Gameplay
It seems like a very easy game, and at first it is. But as you start to gain confidence, you’ll begin to play with less care and inevitably start falling off the platform. And when you realize it, you’re taking all the care in the world not to get wet! hahaahaha
Progressively, the levels become larger and, indeed, they become mazes.
There are levels that take place at night, which reduce your visibility (until you have enough coins to buy the kitten with a strong flashlight). And a little further ahead, flames start appearing that hurt you (and I’ll leave my tip here: gather coins to unlock the kitten with more health).
In total, there are 50 levels, making it a game that requires a lot of patience!
If you prefer something faster-paced, I warn you that you’ll find this game quite boring.
Unfortunately, the game does not support joystick use.
I see this game as having a very childish tone. If you have young children, it’s a great choice to introduce them to the world of games, exactly because of the ease of the controls, simple objective, and cute graphics.
During my gaming session, I encountered some bugs. Nothing that ruined my experience, but they unfortunately showed that the game lacked a bit of polish.
Replayability and Game Retention
Unfortunately, there is no feature that incentivizes the player to play again, even after completing the final level.
Even with the game’s simplicity, there is room for improvement.
For example, adding a time attack mode and including a ranking system. This would encourage players to try to achieve the best time possible in each level, as well as compete for the top spot on the ranking.
A competitive mode where whoever finds more kittens wins the match would also be quite cool.
I even sent some improvement suggestions to the game’s developer, I hope some modifications take place!
