Mickey was comfortably seated on his bed, reading a book about Jack and the Beanstalk. During his reading, he fell asleep, and when he opened his eyes, he found himself inside the universe of the book.
His mission in this game is to help the characters so that he can return to his own world.

Mickey’s Ultimate Challenge is a hybrid platformer and puzzle game.]

Final Thoughts – Analyzing the Game as a Whole

Graphics and UI

The game’s art is very beautiful and well detailed. The shading is just right, giving the game a fully cartoonish look.
A great place to appreciate the effort put into the visuals is Donald’s challenge, where it’s possible to see his reflection on the board.

The animations are on the same level of quality. There’s a section in the game where you need to swim across the screen, and great care was taken to ensure that Mickey’s animation is noticeably different from Minnie’s, giving the game a unique touch.

The menus are very simple and functional. When starting the game, you choose the difficulty level and the character you’ll play as (Mickey or Minnie).
During gameplay, the HUD is limited to a small area that shows which items you’ve collected.

Soundtrack and Sound Effects

The songs are memorable and all carry a medieval fantasy vibe. Some of the tracks I heard during my childhood and have never forgotten.

Gameplay

Your mission in the game is to help the characters of the kingdom. Each one presents a different challenge, and upon completing it, you’re rewarded with an item.
On medium difficulty, the only puzzle that may pose a real challenge is Goofy’s, where you must arrange the tools in the correct order within a limited number of attempts.

Challenge mode is much more complicated and can be very frustrating during the final challenge. I never had the patience to finish it, honestly! haha
The game’s biggest flaw is the lack of save or password features. If you want to complete it, you have to do everything in a single run (of course, with emulators we can bypass this using save states, but I’m evaluating the game based on the conditions of its original release).

The puzzles are very different from each other, and each playthrough changes them slightly.

It’s a fun game, but mainly for puzzle enthusiasts. If you don’t enjoy this style, the game will probably have little appeal.

Replayability and Game Retention

After finishing the game once, you can replay it on a different difficulty level. Other than that, the game doesn’t offer much incentive to repeat the experience.
It’s a good puzzle game, but because it follows a linear story and doesn’t allow replaying completed challenges, most players will rarely feel the urge to play it again.
