Final Considerations – Analyzing the Game as a Whole

Graphics and UI

I thought the art style reminded me a lot of Don’t Starve and Rusty Lake Hotel.
As I mentioned in previous reviews, I’m not a fan of cut-out animations, but despite being simple, they are very well done and appear at key moments, bringing a lot of naturalness to the events and interactions.

Soundtrack and Sound Effects

I recommend playing with headphones. I didn’t do that, so many sound details certainly went unnoticed by me.

The focus is more on sound effects than background music, which creates a strong sense of suspense.

Some characters have voice acting, which makes the story more engaging.

Gameplay

This was my first game in the series, and I can already say that it didn’t affect my gameplay experience. Apparently, the stories reference each other, but playing them out of order doesn’t harm the understanding of the narrative.

Creepy Tale: Some Other Place is a very simple point-and-click game, with few interactions between actions and objects, focusing on puzzles and moments of stealth and action.
It’s quite linear, but some puzzles may be challenging for players who aren’t familiar with this type of game.

No bugs occurred during my playthrough, which shows that a lot of care and attention went into the development.

The game supports joystick controls.

Replayability and Retention

I got hooked from the start (and that’s great!).
The only flaw is that it’s short. It took me around four hours to finish it.

It has achievements, so for players who enjoy completing games 100%, it offers a bit more entertainment time.
